Our Story

Baking with Love: A Family Tradition

At Baking Cotswolds, baking is more than a skill — it’s a tradition, a passion, and a way to bring people together. Nestled above a charming tearoom in Burford, our family-run baking school is built on warmth, creativity, and a love for sharing the art of baking.

Founded by Lis and Christiaan, our journey began with a collection of independently owned tearooms and guesthouses in the beautiful Cotswolds. Inspired by the joy of hospitality, we created the Cotswold Baking School to share the recipes and techniques behind some of our most beloved tearoom treats.

Our teenage children often join us on weekends, adding energy and laughter to the kitchen. For us, baking is as much about family moments as it is about flour and sugar.

Our Story

Our Place in the Community

Community is at the heart of what we do. Every month, we host a social gathering for local retirees, serving tea, coffee, and fresh pastries — a tradition that’s as much about friendship as it is about food. These moments of connection inspire the welcoming atmosphere our guests love.
